For Sale: Old Town & Kennebec Canoes - Delta, ON

Sadly one of our Chapter members, Bob Climie, passed away in 2021. His wife Leslie is looking for good homes for the two canoes that they own. Below is Leslie's description of the canoes and a link to photos. If interested please contact Leslie at romeolimac@sympatico.ca or Alex Guthro who can put you in touch with Leslie.

ACCEPTING BEST REASONABLE OFFERS

We have two sponson wooden boats for sale.

a) One is an "Old Town" and I have the papers for it. It was beautifully restored about 20 years ago and has been in the water only on occasion since then. The gunnels are finished with wee diamond shaped brass screws...exquisite. One tiny tear on the fibreglass exterior occurred by accident years ago and was repaired.

b) The other sponson, thought to be a "Kennebec", (circa 1930's) was brought from Silver Islet, Thunder Bay, to our home in Delta Ontario in the early 1990's. It is the mate to the one that Bob grew up using on Lake Superior. Bob arranged for the cedar frame to be refurbished by Peter Music, a shipwright in Kingston. It was re-canvassed and also received new caning on the seats by a couple in North Bay 15 or so years ago. It, too, has been only used occasionally. Both of these canoes are in my garage and are in excellent condition.
