Upcoming Event: Birchbark Canoe Build - Huntsville, Ontario

The Hope Arises Organization is hosting a Birchbark Canoe building event between September 28 - October 9, 2026. The location is River Mill Park in downtown Huntsville, Ontario. This free event (9am - 4pm Monday to Friday) is a cultural immerson experience to learn about the sacred and spiritual significance of the bark canoe to indigenous peoples. Various lodges will be set up in the park to learn more and witness Chuck Commanda of the Kitigan Zibi Nation build the canoe which will be "birthed" into the Muskoka River on Oct. 9th at 10am.
