FOR SALE: J.R. Kay 16’ Freighter/Guide

Chapter Member, Colin Whitehead, has a a fully restored and relatively rare  J.R. Kay 16’ Freighter/Guide flat back canoe for sale. J.R. Kay was a builder in Port Sydney, Ontario active between 1933 to 1955. This particular hull was built in 1938-1939.

The vessel was constructed on an open form that is now own by Buckhorn Canoe Company. There is a sister vessel is the storage facility at the Canadian Canoe Museum. During the restoration, all ribs were removed and replaced.
